Choosing Smart, Stable, Exclusive and YamYam protocols
A practical guide to YamYam VPN modes and the Balanced, Compatible and Direct protocol labels.
Installing an APK is straightforward, but a few checks help confirm that the file is the one the publisher released. This guide covers the download, checksum, Android permission and post-install cleanup.

An APK is Android’s install package. When an app is not live on Google Play yet, an APK is the direct installation route. YamYam publishes its file on the official download page, with a stable download link so you do not have to guess an old filename. Check that the page is on yamyamvpn.top; do not install a file forwarded by an unknown channel. A familiar icon is not proof of a genuine package.
Press Download APK and wait for the browser to finish. Compare the filename and size with the download page. A partial download is often much smaller and should not be installed. Keep the file in Downloads while you verify it. If the connection stopped, delete the incomplete file and download again rather than trying to resume a questionable copy.
SHA-256 is a fingerprint of every byte in the file. The download page displays the value for the current release. On macOS or Linux run shasum -a 256 filename.apk; in Windows PowerShell use Get-FileHash .\filename.apk -Algorithm SHA256. Android also has reputable checksum tools; choose one that only reads the file and does not ask for unrelated access. Compare every character. Case does not matter, but one different character does. If the values differ, do not install: delete the file and download again from the official page. A tiny file change produces a completely different fingerprint.
Android has a separate permission for installs outside Play. On recent versions it is granted per source, such as Chrome or a file manager. When you open the APK, Android can take you to Settings. Enable “Allow from this source” for that one app, return to the installer and turn it off again when finished. Search Settings for Install unknown apps if needed. Confirm the source is the browser or file manager you used; never grant the permission to an unrelated app.
Play Protect or Android may warn about an unfamiliar app. That is a reason to pause, not to blindly dismiss it. Re-check the domain, checksum and file source. If the file came from another page or has no matching checksum, cancel and remove it. Legitimate support will not ask you to disable Play Protect or grant contacts, messages or location access to install a VPN. YamYam needs Android’s VPN permission when you connect, not unrelated permissions.
Open the app, choose a language and approve Android’s VPN prompt when connecting. Device registration does not require a name or email. Start with Smart so the app selects a route and protocol. If a connection fails, check the network, update the app and try once more rather than changing many settings at once. Turn off unknown-app installs and remove the APK from Downloads when you no longer need it.
These few minutes of care are useful for every APK outside a store. Safety depends on the source, file integrity and permissions—not just a familiar app name.
